Indian Head Massage

INDIAN HEAD MASSAGE - A BRIEF HISTORY?

Indian Head Massage has been widely practised in India in the home. Grandparents treat their children and grandchildren and vice versa! It dates back 4000 years.

Indian Head Massage strengthens the muscles, firms the skin, and encourages the body's natural healing abilities. In India today infants often receive a daily massage from birth onwards to keep them in good health.

HOW IS INDIAN HEAD MASSAGE PERFORMED?

Indian Head Massage is performed through the clothes. The back, shoulders, arms, neck and head are treated. It is wonderful for releasing tension and treating stress because it works on the areas of the body most affected by tension - the shoulders, upper back, neck and head.

After a treatment you will feel calm, relaxed and ready to face the world again. Indian Head Massage is suited to office or home treatments.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?

Skin

Indian Head Massage improves the skin by encouraging desquamation (the shedding of cells on the surface of the skin).

Skeletal System

It increases joint mobility and flexibility in the shoulders, neck and arms. By reducing tension in the tissues it minimises the stress on bones and joints, reducing their need to overwork because the muscles are not performing properly.

Muscular System

Indian Head Massage improves circulation and waste removal (particularly lactic acid) from muscles. This helps reduce aches and soreness and eliminates tension.

Circulatory System

Indian Head Massage improves the delivery of nutrients and oxygen to the muscles and speeds up the removal of waste products and toxins. It also helps to reduce blood pressure.

Lymphatic System

Indian Head Massage improves lymphatic circulation. In doing so it speeds up the removal of excess fluid and waste from the cells. It helps to reduce swelling and improves the production and delivery of white blood cells, reducing the risk of infection.

Nervous System
